I had this poem taped to my computer many years ago when I worked in corporate America ... dreaming of the day when I could start my own nursery. That dream became a reality in 2003.
I meant to do my work today --
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.
And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand --
So what could I do but laugh and go?

I'm a Georgia native (Cobb County), avid gardener, and horticulturist who started my nursery in 2003 -- Victoria's Secret Garden & Nursery.
Since 2004, I've been a professional speaker/teacher/presenter at botanical gardens, garden clubs, country clubs, master-gardener classes, churches, and community organizations. My speaking topics range from academic ("Latin for Gardeners") to scientific ("Phytopathology: Diseases and Disorders of Plants") and even humorous ("Kudzu and Other Comedians of the Plant World").
As a writer and published book author, I have 2,000+ professionally published works in my writing portfolio; and I'm also a former gardening columnist for a monthly magazine.
Formerly with the Horticulture Department of the University of Georgia's Cooperative Extension, I most enjoyed the plant research and writing that I did for UGA as well as my horticultural involvement with other state organizations and green-industry clients.
And as a former Farmers’ Market vendor for seven years at 12 metro-Atlanta markets, I still miss loading up my trusty garden wagon and driving to market to sell my plants and homegrown vegetables and herbs.
After 17 years of working in my nursery, the beauty and therapeutic benefits of the plants I love still grace my life with immeasurable value.
